Perfect Game Ohio Valley Scouting Report: Aug 4, 2013

Easton McGee is a 2016 RHP/3B with a 6-5 180 lb. frame from Hopkinsville, KY who attends Hopkinsville. Extra large, slender frame with plenty of room to fill out. High waist. Young, highly projectable prospect. Right handed pitcher who throws from a high three quarters arm slot. Fluid, controlled mechanics with short arm action in back. Threw his fastball 83-85 mph, topping 86, with big two seam action on pitch. Very good feel for a tight 12/6 curveball at 68 mph. Flashed a slider which showed late tilt. Good command of all pitches and repeats delivery well. High upside pitching prospect. Also plays first base where he showed arm strength and athleticism around bag. Right handed batter with very wide base and line drive swing path. Middle of field approach. Named to Top Prospect List. Very good student.

2/16/14 - 6-foot-6, 192-pound prospect with very long and lanky build, frame really projects, uses shorter arm action through a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot, very minimal effort in delivery, fastball sat 83-84 mph (McGee was in the middle of basketball season, have seen 85-87 previously), good command of 67-70 mph curveball and 74mph slider with late action, changeup sat 75-78 mph with good fade thrown with good arm action.  McGee wasn’t as sharp as in the past due to basketball season, but he is a sought after 2016 prospect with multiple Division I offers on the table presently.
